17th century: a new fruit is introduced in the U.S.
By this point, potatoes were widely cultivated in Germany. The 17th century saw the creation of the alcoholic beverage we use to toast on New Year’s Eve. Also, Harry Styles’ favorite fruit arrived in the States.
In 1625, watermelons were first introduced in North America, in Massachusetts. They were already widespread in Europe as a minor garden crop. Of course, the bubbly drink we were talking about was sparkling wine (aka champagne).
