19th century: a NY classic is invented
In this time period, West African farmers began to export palm oil, broadening the horizons of food consumption around the globe. This vegetable oil is essential in maintaining the quality of flavor in processed foods.
We also have to give credit to Charles Feltman, who invented the hot dog in New York by pairing a frankfurter with a bread bun in 1867. Maybe it’s time NY honors him with a (hot dog-shaped) statue.
