Lizzie Borden
Do you know that rhyme, “Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother forty whacks”? Well, it’s based on a real case, but the identity of the murderer isn’t as apparent as it may seem in these two verses.

The story goes that Mr. and Mrs. Borden were found dead in their house, but Lizzie couldn’t be deemed guilty because all the evidence at the crime scene was thought to be circumstantial. The court ignored that she tried to purchase prussic acid days before the crime. How suspicious!
