“RRR” makes two historical freedom fighters meet
Everyone is talking about RRR right now. The Indian action film became the first Telugu-language production to be nominated for a Golden Globe and took home the award for Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu. Perhaps more interesting than its wild action sequences is the counterfactual scenario it presents.
The movie creates a friendship between Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, two of the country’s greatest freedom fighters. The pair, who actually never met, join forces on the big screen to defeat the British colonial empire. RRR gave them a happy ending despite them being killed in real life.
