Odd climate changes in China and Mesopotamia
So far, we’ve shown you what happened in Europe in 536, but this region wasn’t the only one to suffer a total eclipse of the sun for over a year. China and Mesopotamia underwent some odd changes too.

According to the Chronicles of the Southern Dynasties, frost in mid-summer with snow in August ruined crops in various Chinese provinces, resulting in widespread famine and the loss of roughly 70-80% of the population. Something similar happened in Mesopotamia, where the winter was so severe that all birds perished.
