We often hear that if we want to change the world, we have to make some noise. It’s no surprise that many policy changes are the result of large-scale protest movements and organizations voicing their opinions in the street and in the media.

Candy Lightner was determined to make drunk driving have legal consequences. In 1980, she founded Mothers Against Drunk Driving after a DUI offender killed her 13-year-old daughter. Thanks to the organization’s push for justice, strict laws against DUI were established nationwide.
