A sacred place for burial
Researchers can discover many things about a place’s history by digging in the ground. In the case of Stonehenge, a recent archaeological excavation revealed more than 50,000 cremated bone fragments which may indicate that this place was actually a burial site.

When archaeologists used radiocarbon dating to determine how old the remains were, they found that their burials took place as early as 3000 B.C., when the first ditches around the monument were being built. Do you think that Stonehenge is nothing but an extravagant cemetery?
