These Rare Historical Photos Won’t Be Featured In History Books

The calm after the storm (1992)

Hurricane Andrew was a Category 5 Atlantic hurricane that struck Florida, Louisiana, and The Bahamas in August 1992. It’s the most destructive hurricane in history to have ever hit Florida in terms of structures damaged/destroyed. This is what its aftermath looked like in the south of the state.

Andrew cost a total of $27.3 billion in damage. You can’t really blame this woman, can you? What this photographer captured was, essentially, a person trying to forget about the catastrophic situation for a few minutes, attempting to go on with her life as usual.
